Portraits For Patriots® Academy applicants should meet the following criteria to be considered for placement in the program:
- If your spouse is separating or retiring from service soon, and you will not be able to effectively volunteer, we are unable to accept your application, at this time.
- You must be an active-duty spouse living on, or near a US military installation with a love of photography and a desire to become a working, professional photographer.
- You will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a suitable portrait lens. (50mm – 100mm) The camera does not need to be the latest-and-greatest model—most modern cameras are capable of producing high-quality images with a thorough understanding of your camera’s operation and controls.
- You will need a laptop computer with a current operating system capable of running our photographic software. Your computer is just as important as your camera and it is important that you have a working knowledge of your computer and how different settings will affect its performance. We do not provide hardware support.
